Phil is the founder of Goldstein & Associates and has nearly 20 years of experience as a consultant and an administrator in higher education. He started his career at Coopers & Lybrand (C&L), where he provided operations improvement and technology and strategy consulting to colleges and universities. After C&L merged with Price Waterhouse, Phil served as one of three Partners directing U.S. higher-education consulting and led its technology-implementation group.
Phil’s clients have included Brown University, Case Western Reserve University, Smith College, Wake Forest University, California State University System, the University of Georgia, New York University, Dartmouth College, California State University, Johns Hopkins University, Monmouth University and Mercy College.
With Mary Beth Baker, he co-founded Next Generation Executive Search. Next Generation complements Goldstein & Associates' technology assessment and planning work by finding and developing IT leadership teams. He is committed to researching and writing on management and technology issues in higher education. He is a frequent presenter at industry conferences and has authored or coauthored numerous articles and books on topics including outsourcing, higher education’s changing competitive landscape, IT leadership and IT funding.
Phil has a BA in Economics from Brandeis University and an MBA from New York University
